Motor Vehicle Amendment Bill
There is a Poll being conducted for this bill. Great. But I am sure that some serious lacunas still remain ignored.
While everyone agrees that driving either after consumption of liquor or while talking on cell phones is incorrect and is banned, there is an equally serious matter, which has never been even considered by any RTO in any Indian state or territory.
Usually, after any human completes Forty years of age that any time thereafter, he/she shall feel the need of spectacles.
And yet, we find many drivers of Taxies, private taxies, auto rickshaws, school buses, and many other such vehicles, whose appearance confirms that they are fifty or above, and yet NEVER wear any spectacles.
Is that NOT dangerous for themselves as well as the passengers in the vehicle they drive?
Current need for a Medical certificate is made a joke because the agent ‘arranges’ it from some doctor on payment of some amount, without the doctor even having seen the person.
The Traffic Police also do NOT give importance to the drivers of busses of all types, taxis of all types, auto rickshaws and also private vehicles, who keep driving without using the spectacles because they never ever have got their eyes tested. If the person is required to use spectacles, then the photo on the driving license must also be with the photo. When in doubt, Traffic Police can easily check the photo on the driving license to confirm if the driver needs the spectacles, but is avoiding to use them.
Ideally, every RTO must make arrangement with proper doctor at the RTO itself, for getting the eyes checked for every individual above Fifty years of age, if he/she is not already wearing spectacles because he has never got his/her eyes tested.
For Two Wheelers, importance is given for wearing helmets. But many times the vehicle itself does NOT have rear view mirrors on both the sides, which could lead to a possibility of having an accident. The Traffic Police do NOT seem to catch such vehicles, probably because they do NOT have legal backing for the same. more

Those who are doing job as drivers like taxi bus and other 3 and 4 wheelers must undergo proper medical test required for drivers.Another thing is all Drivers must be taught Road decipline specially Truck Drivers.It has been seen that Truck Drivers will occupy all lanes of Highways and will not allow motorist to drive in the fast lane.This results in to accident for lane cutting and also their journey becomes tiring and consumes atleast 50% more time then usual time it should take.Licence test should be more strict like foreign countries. more
