New IT rules and its implications on citizen and business

Government has notified the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Amendment Rules, 2022.

The notified Amendment Rules cause injury to the digital rights of every Indian social media user and aren’t good for business.

While we may trust the Current Govt to not misuse these for surveillance it could not be the case with a future Govt.

Can we all please go through attached and share inputs and LC Manager consider taking this up for survey?? more

The rules have already been notified and are in force from the date of publication. I doubt a survey by LC manager will be of any use at this stage. These can be challenged in an appropriate legal forum if you can prove that these have been used by the Govt. to curtail individual's FoS. Courts normally do not entertain applications on the pretext of apprehension. more
The present day situation all over the world is very bad. In particular our country is the sole target of jihadis, the evangelists and the urban naxalites; apart from the wily USA and China. We have to make some strong rules to update and face our enemies. But unfortunately we Indians only know how to pull down a strong person who is sincerely working for the cause. What is your objection if the government makes some rules to face the crisis! Why don't you offer your suggestions and cooperation instead of pointing your finger at it. Please understand the gravity of the situation... more
Which is the specific clause you object to that can be used for surveillance? Anything you put on social media that can be seen by others is something that reveals a bit about you. If you don't want that, use social media only for content consumption or even totally avoid use. And can Mr Deepak clarify what is the draconian part of this notification? more
Namaste. What exactly is the problem here in the ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY NOTIFICATION? I am no lawyer, but this seems to be alright. Can someone enlighten me? Are we making a mountain out of a mole hill? more
This Govt. has been bringing in draconian laws in every field - social media, law & justice, public health, installation of 5G towers. They are doing it only because it is their intent to behave as dictators, while keeping the public busy in petty Hindu-Muslim issues. more
