NO SUPERVISION ON HOW ORDERS ARE CARRIED OUT TO SEGREGATE THE GARBAGE :

Dear readers just take 10 seconds to see the video of how Garbage is cleared . This was taken while waiting for the Shatabdi 12008 back to Chennai at KSR Bengaluru on 4th August .Swachh circle and the members have spent several of their productive time in gathering information and giving suggestions how to segregate Garbage .

After educating the passengers so much and the passengers strictly adhering to the segregation Policy to drop the garbage in the respective Bins , look at what is happening . Both are mixed in one trash bag .
Is this wonderful idea struck the railway authorities ,
* to save on plastic trash bags (you can halve the number )
* or no one has trained these boys who pick up the trash from Bins
* or doesn't the city railway have any one to supervise ?
WHY NOT RAILWAYS SHARE THE GOAL WITH THE LAST GRADE WORKERS TO MAKE THE PROJECT/ PROGRAM SUCCESSFUL ? more

Only Government alone cannot bring in changes but as citizens we also need to join hands with the government to see a new green India. So total change in attitude of everyone from top to bottom is a must. We keep our homes clean but what about public places we use. We throw the waste/garbages on the roads and not even dustbins meant for it. Same is the way for spitting. Local bodies do not clear the dustbins regularly or frequently. So everyone needs to act. May be constant awareness campaign will make people alert. more
I feel like confirmly recording that, like how blood remains a part of our body, corruption has become part of our society at all levels. I agree that low level staff remain ignorant. BUT WE MUST BOLDLY POINT OUT SUCH ACTS BY all HIGH LEVEL MEMBERS OF THE SOCIETY. Then only automatically these people will see see live demos of such behaviour, and SLOWLY, start feeling ashamed, and probably change for the better. more
As long as corruption exists, one cannot expect perfection from government bodies. more
I entirely agree with Sri Daniels comments. Railways cannot be absolved of their responsibility by appointing a contractor. Contractor works on behalf of Railways. There can be delegation of authority and not of the RESPONSIBILITY. However we find same attitude of passing the buck in all Public offices be it Municipalities, corporations or State Govt. Offices including Secretariats (Mantralay). That is my experience in Nagpur Municipal Corporation as well as Mantralaya of Maharashtra State. They do not give reply to letter from people for more than two years, in spite of sustained follow up and pay no attention to Public grievance – not even reply. So, this attitude is ingrained in our administrators from British Raj. To bring about a positive change, a drastic change in approach is necessary and that perhaps is (i) All services should be temporary for 5 years to be extended for a further period of 5 years only if the record shows that he has resolved a predefined number of public cases and there is no public complaint against him for not doing his part of work in reasonable time (predefined) (ii) No ACR from superior official is to be considered for this purpose.(iii) Salary on extension shall be fixed depending on performance and not on superior official’s report. Constant persuasion by the appropriate Circle shall, hopefully, yield positive results. RYK. more
Very true. Why the last grade workers. Even educated people still do not want to segregate waste. There is a large amount of lethargy and indolence in our behaviour where social issues are concerned. When we were young, there was a separate subject called Hygiene (Suhadaram). This was upto 5th class. After that, this subject vanished. Unless the elders are aware and start practising, there will be no change in the society as the gen next will simply follow the path of least resistance and continue to blame a third person for all the ills caused by them. more
Sir we had least number of things at home those days.

All were absolutely essential . Now lot more has come in

to fill the homes . Even things that are to be thrown

stays back at homes . So the saying

"A PLACE FOR EVERYTHING AND EVERYTHING IN ITS

PLACE ", HAS NO PLACE . more
