Overcharging on prices of drugs

Drugs like Nab paclitaxel are supplied to hospitals at 1800/- and sold to patient at MRP 18000/- . Imported and sold by reputed companies Like Lupin.

In these times of covid 19 pandemic I urge members of this circle to take up the issue of inflated MRP on drugs and cap trade margins of all imported drugs at 40% of imported price. I.e. 1500 import price MRP has to be 2100.

Local Circles was successful in raising issue of life saving drugs and medical devices. I am sure if they raise it to PM we will get results. more

I fully agree with you.Subject must be taken up with PM and ministry of health. Malavade. On Sun, 17 May 2020 10:40 am Nikita Mehra, wrote: > more
If it is true that the price of the drug has been inflated to such an extent, its a very serious issue. The government should immediately look into the matter and carry a detailed investigation and regulate the price thereof. Simultaneously, the government should also view the matter very seriously and initiate punitive action against the importer and other accomplices (hospitals) and inflict heavy penalty, if the allegations are found true. The government is also expected to review the existing system of price regulation and MRP system and regulate it with provisions for heavy penalty for any inflation therein with intention to siphon money from the consumers. more
In Andhra pradesh we have generic medical shops, where most of the drugs sold very cheap in comparison to their equivalents in brand medicine. These medicines are cheap but from very reputed companies like SIPLA, Zaidus etc. These cheaper medicines are very useful to the poor and senior citizens. Those companies are doing favour to the people.
What is not understood is that those cheaper medicines are having printed MRP equal to branded medicines . which can be en cashed by some medical shops by selling at MRP means more than ten times the price at generic shops
Can those medicines priced at actual selling prices? more
Such important drugs and formulations should be imported by an autonomous governmental agency and made available to hospitals and drugists at a very reasonable price. Necessary surveillance can be maintained as in case of cyanide sales more
This is how the money comes for doling freebies to the medical practitioners, which is a major curse. It should be curbed and the prices of medicines and Medical devises should be fixed on the basis of Direct costs more
The best use of misleading concept of MRP is being made by the opportunist to smash the wealth. Practically there is no control is being exercise by the FDC. The only way out is social circle through some one at the hierarchy may listen and act. more
MRP MUST SUBJECTED TO TRANSPORTATION COST more
