Passenger Amenities in Trains

Dear Railways Circle Members:

Similar to amenities at Railway Stations, we would like to seek your inputs on Key Amenities in Trains that are currently missing or non functional.

You are welcome to share your inputs by coach type. Also, we would definitely like to give a priority to amenities that are missing/non functional or small upgrades (cost wise) but will drive a significant increase in traveller satisfaction.

1. Quality of food varies from zone to zone and within a zone also. 2. For trains running within a state, give catering contracts to caterers from that state only. They understand the local palates better. 3. Hindi colonisation seems to be happening in Railways. This has to stop immediately. Hindi is just the biggest regional language in this country. Railways should realise this at the earliest. more

Good governance as well as security are required inside the coach. more  
Shibnath Roy Chowdhury, Advocate I believe a good governance may change the travelling safe and better without additional budgetary allocations. A better supervision at yard may solve the regular problems of non-functioning of windows, fans, lights, mobile charging points etc. Coach Attendants are seen once during the entire travelling for ticket checking only. In reserved compartments, the outsiders are allowed both in day and night. Toilets are overused and misused leading to nasty conditions. Passages are kept blocked. But the coach attendants are seen very reluctant and allow the outsiders. Though it is advised by you not to give tips, the cattering staffs do not follow your direction rather they almost make the tips as claims. Very disturbing. Late running has become a regular feature for every train whether local or Rajdhani. Please, Please do somthing for timely running of the trains. I think, passangers prefer regularity than speed. more  
The seating / berths are below average in most of the trains. What I mean to say is that there is no cushion in the seats. I think Railways should consider providing atleast well cushioned seats. more
