Pathology Sink Tests

Bombay was the first to start the sink test where the doctor writes the tests and the lab does not perform the tests just gives normal values . This started in bombay around 1989-1990. With earlier lab technicians doing it for survival against pathologists , later every body started.

There are few big chain of pathology labs who dont follow the cold chain procedure for the blood sample to be sent to them ., wherein the blood deteriorates in 2 hours and they still give reports knowing the deterioration in the blood sample.

One of the largest labs in india doesent even perform the tests, a doctor and his wife on my request sent the same sample on two different names , and surprisingly got two different readings for thyroids for the same sample.

Patients in icus lipid profiles readings are intentionally .increased so as to show cholesterol /triglycerides have increased , angiography is suggested , its a big nexus , and labs though they are working on 500% gross profit are continuing doing this . more

Health issue now start at early age say 30-35 due to undue pressure of extra hours work by MNCs in India. Contractual employment coupled with low salary have added to the problem which exist due to pollution and unhealthy food habits. In nutshell, active working life is fast decreasing and will further deteriorate in times to come in India. more
This is INDIA. One of the most disorganized, undisciplined, lawless and corrupt countries in the world. Here everything STINKS. more
I think health department website should have list of registered /government approved pathology labs in each city. And there should be facility to register complaints / doubt on any particular lab with all the relevant information. Government health inspector /designated officer should cross check and update investigation report against concerned lab. The Data of complaint / clarification /suggestions /recommendation for each lab should be available for public for reference. So we have authentic information on each lab, if possible standard price for each test to be displayed. more
Is no rules available? more
The Health Ministry should fix up accountability for the concerned pathologists, whose reports are proved to be incorrect/false. Since incorrect/fabricated reports could cause serious adverse affects on the health of the concerned patients and even it could result in death, the quantum of punishment in such cases should be rigorous/stringent. If this is done, the instances of such nature would certainly come down sharply. more
Quality Assurance and Regulatory Inspections should regularly audit the sites. Unfortunately, some regulatory authorities can also be bribed. So we do not have a fool proof system in India yet. The computer systems should be part 11 compliant and must have audit trails to ensure that neither lab technicians nor auditors can manipulate the information and data. 'Good Clinical Practices' should be strictly enforced.

In US all hospitals, diagnostic labs or even pharmaceutical industry conducting the tests are GCP compliant and are inspected/audited by regulatory agencies, periodically more
It has been observed that even some Equipment for Testing like 2 D Echo; Color Doppler etc., are technically Stale and not revealing true and full result .
Same way, some Labs neglecting to use the requisite chemical and or using adulterated chemical for Testing many Tests based on Blood and Urine too.

The issue of efficiency of Testing Equipment and the Chemical that tests and reveal correct diagnosis is also an issue behind and to be thought well . more
