Railways will need 35,000 crores worth of money to implement 7th pay commission increases. Where willt his money come from. We need to have a discussion on what will railways do to cut costs to the same magnitude. Increasing fares and frieght charges or cancellation charges is not the solution. Everyone pls share your opinion how should Railways offset this burden (what jobs should be cut) more
Railways has maximum number of employees and at least 20% of these are useless. Many times under political pressure Railways make recruitment and create a burden on its financial condition. The ministry should take a survey of such useless/excess employment and transfer these staff members to departments where there services can be used to fullest. High level staff gets maximum of free facilities which should be curbed and most important is curbing of corruption. more
*When 5th pay commission was accepted, the PM was Hon. I P Gujral. He without many deliberations conceded. I thought he knew that in no case his Govt. will come to power. There is no surprise that the employees would demand as much as possible. But the inordinate increase in pay and perks has damaged. Nobody say ânoâ to it. There should be simple reference index and accordingly pay should be fixed. The demand of one rank one pay might put further stress to it.* On Sat, Nov 21, 2015 at 6:16 PM, Shikha Jain wrote: > more
For implementing the 7th pay commission the Railways should not make money from the customers by increasing the fares and cancellation charges. It is not mandatory to implement the pay revision if they can not manage with their business, like any other sick public sector undertaking company. The railway staff are drawing a very comfortable salary when comparing the people working in unorganized sectors. Since the number of employees in Railways are large only a marginal increase in the salary will cost the management a burn in their hands and will make the Railway fund to become zero. If the 7th pay commission is implemented then the programmes on passenger safety, health and hygiene, station up gradation and improving the passenger facilities can not be implemented. When comparing Railways in India and other foreign countries our system needs lot of improvement. The Ministry of Railways can make a decision by giving preference whether to improve passenger facilities and safety or to grant the pay revision. more
