Petrol Pump cheating is more common than we thinm

In many towns of India even today the employees pay the pump owner to work at petrol pumps so I am a bit surprised that only 13% people in the LC survey said that the pump fellow didnt set meter to 0

Chances are many didnt pay attention to the meter.

Why is legal metrology not on top of this issue. Are they also hand in glove. I would think they are because they work for state govt and their minister is likely looking for his/her cut on a monthly basis.

So best is to just check 0 ourselves and not get duped. What is your experience/opinion more

In general, the metres are set to zero before pumping the petrol/diesel into the vehicles' tanks but there are various other technic and method to dupe the customers, on which the customers have little knowledge and control. more
yes in some petrol pump they are cheating , meter setting so qty. we get less & Mixing of kerosene /diesel in petrol because petrol cost high so they are getting money easily more
This is self limiting. Subsidised diesel धुआं उड़ाते we wisen up. Cheating the environment okay? more
Glad this is brought up. Never faced this. Fault finding always. Self-service petrol pumps be implemented. In US you insert credit card, fill gas, charge deducted, withdraw card. Period. Go home. Can India automate?
Yes. Your observation is correct. more
