PLATFORM TICKETS & TICKET CHECKING AT EXIT IS A MUST :

PLATFORM TICKETS & TICKET CHECKING AT EXIT IS A MUST : The rail users kindly don’t take it as only an additional revenue for the railways [though it is ] . It is actually for the safety of the Passengers , the trains and the railway property and also Cleanliness & hygiene.

It is a different story for Airports . Once you enter it is fully air-conditioned, far less noise, CCTV Cameras, assistance to the differently abled and full security inside the foyer to the Tarmac. Practically no need for the relatives to enter at all .

Mentally try to compare the Scenario in air ports and Busy Railway stations . There are 8,000 to 8,500 Rly. Stations in India , catering to all Class of passengers . Out of them 12 are most busy . The busiest with over 250 Trains . and a hooping 10,00,000 passengers using the terminus . Out of the 12 , just 6 are the State capitals . The rest of the State Capitals don’t feature in the 12 busy stations . Though not in the 12 , 5,50,000 passengers use the Chennai Central Rly. Station, and 5,00,000 the Mumbai . Like wise so many . To control and have an eye on their movement and behavior is a herculean task .

A good percentage of this number comes to see them off to or receive from the platforms. But much more come with a different motive .

BUT PLATFORM TICKETS AND TICKET CHECKING AT THE EXIT ON A REGULAR BASIS SHOULD BE THERE TO AVOID UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS ENTERING THE PLATFORMS FOR VARIOUS MOTIVES TO,
*mostly to use the toilet and water after passengers detrain & the rakes are held in the station .
* Steal the railway property from the coaches like fittings from the toilets. [even the mugs & trash bins are chained and locked in some toilets ]. Loss is not only the financial amount , but impairs the service to the passengers . Railways may not be able to provide in time a replacement after these being stolen.
* knock of the valuables ,
*pick pocket , theft as the passengers will be preoccupied with mobile trying to contact , fix transport ,
At Tuticorin Rly. Station , when the Train was berthed in the Platform, I entered and kept my baggage , one cloths , the other bag with sundry items . And went to get a bottle of water . When I came back with water the baggage wasn’t there . I went to the RPF out post [had to take the other bag also with me ] and just informed and came back to my seat . I realized it is my carelessness knowing full well that there is no control on such thieves.
* to sell by the unauthorized vendors [though this has come down drastically the last few years after e- catering ],
* kidnap kids (this had happened last year in Chennai Central Station, thanks to CCTV , Culprits were nabbed in time . )
* use the furniture , sleep in the platform
* target women and the old traveling alone .
All this happens as there is a gap between arrival and the moving the Rakes from the Platforms .The Crooks and the Criminals seem to be more observant about the timings of visit of cleaning staff and the security check.

Platform ticket and most important ticket check at the exit should be done to avoid the above hassles for the passengers and
* Control the crowd confusion and noise in the platforms ; People loitering , lying down on the floor, and chair hinder the movement of passengers with their baggage and the break van goods parcel movement.
All the above can be prevented and if Platform tickets are made mandatory to enter the platform.

There is no check at all for Platform ticket when passengers are going out .Why ? Imagine the loss of revenue.

So the Indian Railways should provide Vending Machines in sufficient numbers. They must be placed in conspicuous spots . Check every day as tickets are being fed in about the working condition. more

increase platform ticket to Rs. 10 /00 - rs. 20 . It will reduce unnecessary peoples coming for Sent OFF to their relatives , Crowd in coaches , dirtiness on platform & coaches etc. Make Strict checking at entry as well as exit. Put Ticket Checking Peoples there & their salary should be fixed on the cases they brought. entry & exit Points should have 24 X 7 X 365 days working / operational CCTV System to avoid any allegations. fine ON The SPOT , with No further Investigation, based on CCTV Footage. It is Possible if get implemented. at least Rly. Can get Income from it. The TC's are lethargic & They Do not work except Sitting in Office. more
If I remember right, at one time some years ago only travellers were allowed the platform in Mumbai. This was an excellent move that reduced unnecessary crowding but was discontinued later. While it is helpful for senior citizens and youngsters alone for the 1st time to have an escort, if the railways provide sufficient free luggage carts and transport buggies as in the airports and dedicated staff to help, I'm sure much of the problems mentioned would be mitigated. Friends and relatives can wait at the entrance as in airports to meet/send off the genuine passengers! more
Sir, I am not against checking at gate or for not checking at gate/s of Railway stations, but should we not ask why railways are not doing it? or why they have discontinued it? Checking of CCTV camera output and identifying daily visitors to platforms (excluding employees/ authorized vendors etc.) and taking action on them may be far more easier and effective than placing a human on the gate to check. He/she is fallible and can escape responsibility easily with n number of reasons. A more dependable system needs to be found/evolved to serve the interests of passengers who are customers of Railways. RYK. more
Dear sir,    i Suggest the platform ticket price should less Rs.2/- then you said like platform tickets checking at exit is must, with regards,S.Venkataraman.From: Jayakumar Daniel Sent: Mon, 20 May 2019 17:05:54To: sv_r@rediffmail.comSubject: "PLATFORM TICKETS & TICKET..." more
A good suggestion, in fact railway must make the entry and exit just like metro means, each reserved and unreserved ticket must have a bar code in order to make the entry and exit traceable so that unauthorized entry and exit must not be allowed within the station and its periphery. If bar code is not possible then PNR must be validated with entry and exit and it must be allowed only 1hr before the departure of the train of passenger from the originating station. It will be really excellent and it will help in controlling crime also, yest it is big project and all the station/junctions needs to be technically qualified for that project but it is future demand and upcoming government must take it seriously. more
