Political Party Tickets for Election

The media is reporting many cases of candidates paying huge amounts for getting Party Ticket to contest election.
In addition to cost of party ticket a candidate spends a huge amount in electioneering to win.
When the candidate wins election his first objective would be to recover the total cost incurred in winning an election.
This means that every candidate winning election can make huge amounts of money in 5 years. This hypothesis is proved by the Affidavits submitted by candidates for next election wherein their assets multiply many times.
Does it mean that winning an election is like employment for 5 years at a huge salary and thereafter guaranteed pension for life time.

Our Electoral System needs a thorough Revamp. There should be proper criteria for Selection of Candidate. It can be on par with an Executive of Govt Office. Be it Qualification, Age, Criminal Records, Police cases. Corruption Cases. Black Money etc. His/Her total asset must be seen in the beginning and every year. If there is any abnormal rise then it must be investigated. more
presently there is no solution to this problem because a candidate does not get/ get very few votes on the basis of performance. more
All politicians in all the political parties are seasoned and ruthless looters and are so professional that even they know how to buy vulnerable sections' votes. Same set of people (of above class) are visible in any party in power irrespective of their earlier political affiliations. Sad thing is that all parties are willing to take them into their parties for their own selfish motive of survival in power. No exceptions and very hard to find Statesmen in Politics in India. more
Absolutely write, corruption starts from here. more
Quite right. WE the stupid public has been voting such people for positions of MPs / MLAs. WE know that many people like money from their positions, yet we still vote for people like Kejriwal. This is continuing to happen since past decades, because we are ourselves a corrupt people. WHEN WILL WE LEARN? more
Are there alternative candidates with some semblance of ethical behavior? I bet there are a lot of Kerjiwals waiting in line to get a party ticket by hook or crook. And I bet the money they pay for the party ticket is from earlier bribes they have amassed. I am sure they didn't get a loan to pay such huge amounts. Also, to whom are the monies paid? To the party? Corruption, Thy Name is Election Candidates.

What is the solution? more
