POSITIVE SUPPORTIVE SUGGESTIONS

Dear sirs,
All that the rail users / senior citizens / Lower Berth seekers ask for is an indication of the nature of Berth available , L / M / U . Let the Rail user have the choice before he makes the payment as is offered by the Airlines and Transport sectors. If their choice it is not available they go for other choice like different date , train or even mode .

Instead of flashing ' book only if ' , that comes in the screen while booking . This flash option is forcing the rail user to take a gamble . And if the gamble ends in financial loss for the Rail ticket Booker , it becomes unpalatable . It is not a fair option to be offered to the Customer .

The same issue was raised in August 16 and in a big way which attracted flurry of comments , suggestions .

Some valuable and positive ones that may kindly be taken into consideration .:

"* I can not understand, in DIGITAL INDIA, why the Railways can not display the vacant seats and births to the public, so that they can choose their required ones, as in the Plane booking ?

* It must focus on correcting this kind of legitimate suggestions quickly. This must be a top priority.

* Actually when booking the seat, it should indicate the likely berth to be allotted with a indication whether lower or upper etc and if the passenger is willing for the particular berth he can book the ticket otherwise he can skip the booking . But actually in the present system the availability of the Berth only indicated.

* It is strange that in spite of so much PR exercise by Railway Minister, the smallest thing like seat allocation is still done in the most passenger unfriendly way.

* Its not a big deal for Railways to provide a map of the seat occupancy. If airlines can give it why not Railways. It will give the individual the freedom to choose.

* IRCTC booking software needs overhaul in a such way that the software takes into account the age of the traveller, their relationship such as spouses, children, etc for allotting the numbers or the passengers should be able to choose their required seats.

* IRCTC will not show the berths to be allotted unless and until payment has been received by them and they have booked the ticket, arbitrarily allotting berths , irrespective of the choice .

SUCH POSITIVE SUPPORTIVE SUGGESTIONS SHOULD BE GIVEN A TRY BY THE RAILWAYS TO MAKE RAILWAYS BETTER & TRANSFORM INDIA AND NOT THE SLOGANS ALONE . Jai Hind . This post must be sent by all to ministry of railway & Rail minister. more

Yes. Instead of giving the berth information after getting the payment, it should be that the passenger should go for other choice like different date , train or even mode . more
If the money is refunded immediately if the booking process is cancelled because of non availability of choice seat the problem will be solved. It may be something like the mechanism in banks in applications to IPO of shares. In banks the money is in hold with the bank till the share allotment is not made. the money is refunded immediately if shares are not allotted. This is worth considering more
Yes , there should be displayed on screen the availability of the berths . It is up to the passenger to book it or not . The touts are running the show and it is a very common phenomena. Why not it is been stopped? more
Senior citizens/Ladies with babies/ Handicapped should be on priority for lower berths touts agents should be totally banned as i had experienced that i always plan my trips well in time say three months in advance and surprised to see the wait list ticket once at Delhi Subzi Mandi ticket counter i went there at 3 PM a man was booking the tickets and left the counter at 5.30 PM with bunch of tickets in his hand the counter was closed all the public standing expressed their anguish on counter clerk Such official should be punished more
Seat selection will be a great mess, rather than Railway can introduce the option of choosing the 1 Lower birth, if the passengers are 3 or more. more
