Pregnant Traveler getting a seat - kudos circle
I am glad to see that Ram Kasture raised his concern about his pregnant daughter in law not getting a confirmed berth despite being wait listed for so long in the circle and then Railways Ministry assisting him.
However, the best way for railways is not to address these individual queries but make better policy so such travelers get preference and a box is made in booking where pregnant women can identify themselves with aadhaar and avail the facility after verification at station.

There should be few lower berths earmarked for pregnant women in each train to accommodate such persons. If no such person available at the time of charting those berths can be allotted to genera passengers, like EQ. more

It was me who had suggested Indian railways first to reserve birth for pregnant women. Felt happy when it was implemented. Regards Aravinda D more

Preference in berth allocation could be made subject to availability. When no berth was available in the specified train on the given date, no question of preference arises. Problems like Mr Ram Kasture could be avoided if berths are booked well in time, i.e., immediately on opening the reservation 120 days in advance of the journey dates in a preplanned manner in such cases. more
