Pricing of Medical Devices - Way Forward

Many of you who have been in the circle since 2017 know that LocalCircles has been instrumental in escalating the issue or price capping so medical devices become affordable for the common citizen in India. As India discusses this subject with USA with President Trump's visit next week, we want to make sure the citizen perspectives are taken into consideration.

Based on your feedback in the recent survey, we are proposing that price capping for all medical devices must be fully implemented. In addition, if a company has a premium product, they should be allowed to sell that product seperately with a trade margin cap of 30%. However, any company selling a premium medical device in India must be required to list a product in the price capped basic category.

Kindly share your inputs and if you have any alternate opinion, solution, please share the same as well. The idea is to make medical devices affordable to masses, yet ensure that those can afford a premium product have the ability to do so without paying for it excessively. more

To my mind first preference must be given to QUALITY of the products and then the condition of NATIVE CONSUMERS. Development of Indigenous products is always best but how much we depend on foreign technology is a matter of serious research. Please..... more
I agree with S/Shri FALGUNI BANERJEE and Dr. Ajay Jain (Expert).Make In India should be promoted for quality product. RYK. more
Common equipment like Eye glass, Teeth plaque Remover, and so on to be informed to public with brand name and Price. more
GOI always promotes import substitution for equipment & spares for imported equipment to encourage local manufacturers, skill development and reduction in price. This is the right time to go for it for successful "Make In India" programme. Price will automatically come down with indigenisation. more
Everything will get improved only when we will start to think, plan and act with non-political interests. Everyone must keep in mind only NATIONAL AND EVERY CITIZEN's INTERESTS in mind & consideration. more
