Private practice by Government Hospital Doctors

We all know and have discussed how many Doctors in India get cuts and benefits (cash or kind) from pharma companies, testing labs, hospitals and nursing homes.

Another major issue is many Doctors on Govt payrolls do private practice. This is rampant in smaller towns across India. They get billing done on spouses or some other name or just take cash.

Can something be done about this. I think LC can atleast raise the issue more

Some medicines are exclusively only to selected hospitals, who, it appears conduct such treatements and charge innocent patients abnormally high. Some doctors who, on social media exposed such scam. Against printed rate of i. e. ₹ 150.00 a strip of ten tablets, hospital chage ₹40,000 to ₹ 50,000.00. First of all pharma maphias should sell their productd only through registered chemist shops and at no reason, they should sell it to hospitals directly As many of the hospitals are owned by most corrupt politicians, all doctors are greedy and corrupt and bills a patient at high rate Wjo will bell the cat. Law maker is law breaker. more
There is a Polytechnic course in Engineering. On similar lines Govt can start a Diploma Course for Doctors of say 3 years duration. Such Doctors can be appointed in Villages. They will take care of basic needs of the Villagers. more
It must be made compulsory for all politicians and bureaucrats to take treatment from Government Dispensaries and Hospitals without which Government Dispensaries and Hospital services will not improve. Also reimbursement of medical expenses should be stopped to all the politicians and bureaucrats. more
There is shortage of doctors in our country. Therefore if a doctor is doing private practice also it should be OK if he/she is not neglecting official duties. more
In govt hospitals/dispensaries in rural areas the medical staff including nurses and compounders work for 1 hr or so and disappear. No body can action against them as their unions are very strong and politically well connected. Other departments are also infested with this deadly disease. Too much job security, non accountability and political patronage are the root causes. As such there is no remedy for these problems unless major overhauling is done in the working of every govt. Institution. Linking salaries n promotions to performance will go a long way in stemming the rot. more
