Private Sector Loot in Railways coming

The railways is getting ready to privatise and give many routes to private train operators which is ok except there is a problem. the Railways is saying it would not fix a ceiling price for fares of trains to be operated by private players, and it would be “market-driven”.

So technically like airlines charge sometimes 25000 for a mumbai delhi flight, train could also charge 5000 for a mumbai delhi train.

why no public consultation has been done before launch of such things, conduct polls and if people are ok with it only then propose such things. more

It will go the Indian airlines/ BSNL way. To encourage the private operators, profitable routs were given to them. All loss making routs were with air India/ Indian airlines . In addition to this all DISCOUNT passes were to be respected by the Indian airlines. The result is clear. To kill a dog call it mad. Competitive will be on equal terms and conditions. Not only main and profit making routs, some new, loss making routs also need be taken by the private parties to prove competitive . Simply running trains on tracks and facilities run by the state will not be competitive. more
If you remember during the period of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Mamta Banerjee as Railway Minister No fares were raised. With the result Railway's economy was very bad.Now this Privatisation is the result of these actions.More over load on the train is always more in comparison to Buses is also result of this. Now with so many very Good Highways,it is high time that a lot of load can be shared by Buses provided fares are comparitable. more
sOCIALISM IS ALREADY DEAD SO IS COMMUNISM AND tALIBANISM. wHY ARE YOU TRYING TO REVIVE DEAD WOODS. more
Privatisation of certain routes or trains would make it competitive and people will have their decide their priorities and choice, which will be helpful in breaking the monopoly of Indian Railways. It is not necessary that the fares of private trains will be more than the trains of the Indian Railways. Airfares if private flights are always cheaper than the fare in the government owned Air India. more
The Railways happened to be biggest asset of GOI. It has been operatings for generations now. privatization is being done, which is disappointing. It should be opposed. These private trains to get priority over IR trains. really mockery. Also the private players shall not have any social responsibility n profit is sole aim. To me better sense should prevails and we donot need Adani, ambani and IRCTC trains. more
