Product Recall System Design

BIS or Consumer Ministry needs to set up a Product Recall process such that all products priced above a threshold (say 1000) mobile phone, vehicle, laptop, child toy, geyser, automobile and thousand others if a manufacturing defect is found which impacts safet, the manufacturer MUST be required to recall it.

This means every product of value the manufacturer must know the consumer and these days with ecommerce platforms its become very easy which wasnt the case earlier.

Can Localcircles please take this up with respective govt department many of those under Modi Govt 2.0 seem to be badly lacking in public engagement. more

The Consumer Affairs Ministry need to keep a close watch on the activities of the business firms and necessary corrective steps has to be taken, as and when required. more
It should start from the Government. Otherwise, current scenario would only continue. For example, Railways should automatically refund the ticket fare (proportionate) if a Train reaches the destination 30 mins behind schedule. If you take Air India, they are not one bit bothered about Time schedule, the departure of an aircraft is generally 'Any time'. They should also refund airfare for late arrivals. Similarly Government Dairy Products & others, genuine complaints should be processed without delay and proper replacement or refund should be be provided on time. Does the Government have the guts to set Standards for its business units. The other problem in our country is the worst politics. Opposition Party (who ever is in that position) will either oppose or when they come to power repeal the laws introduced by the previous Government. more
Yes this is required and I think some special food safety policies should be drafted for Eatables also. more
