Punjab Farm Fires getting bad

Consistent cloud and rain over India is both delaying agricultural waste burning and limiting the detection of these fires by satellite. Although the fire season this year is delayed compared to the last few years because of the delayed monsoon withdrawal, stubble burning is increasing and soon, regional air quality will get a hit as soon as rain goes away which is starting tomorrow. more

The people should come out for agitation against industrial and agricultural pollution more
I think the time has come when Kisans and Politicians have to put all out effort to finish pollution due to burning of Parali. more
The central and state governments are indifferent to the pollution problem. In such a situation either PIL or suomotu SC/HC action is desirable. Our shameless politicians and bureaucrats grab pension for life, doing nothing for the nation.Do we need such an ineffective democracy? more
Many Elected members are getting 8-9 pensions
amounting to 4-5 lacs/month + free travel
for self & spouse by Executive class for life,
security, medical reimbursement etc. This
is in line with the order of honourable
Supreme Court. How is to blame. The whole
system of governance has rotten during the
last 5 decades and the tax payers are getting
crushed. more
Very few farmers are using farm produce waste to make compost. Rest burn the same with impunity to make the fields ready for sowing. There is politics in it. If one political party tries to impose ban, the opposition parties instigate the farmers to burn the waste on the plea that farmers are are 'poor' inspite of getting all freebies and selling the produce in one go at MSP. Pollution control Board can do nothing unless State government supports. Even the HC/SC rulings are thrown in the dustbin with the support of political parties. This menace will continue. Mobocracy will continue to rule the country. more
This pollution hazard is noticed since few years and the pollution control board is silent on the matter. more
