RAILWAY RESERVATION SYSTEM ----PATHETIC!!

Railway reservation system should be staggered!! Instead of 90 days & Tatkal, it should be staggered to 90 days, 60 days, 30 days 15 days and Tatkal, seat allotment should be 20%, 20%, 30%, 30% and Tatkal, quota. This system will allow everybody to plan their journeys in convenient way and could travel comfortably. more

all TTE should upadate avaialablity of seats and bearths ofter leaving the station then autometically the RAC and WL list passanges had SMS alerts then autometically CORRUPTION will control and OR will increse. more
Another thought, very often First Class air con only has 6 berths available in the general quota*, a family group want to travel together, they require 4 berths, whatever form of staggered booking (120/60 or 120/60/30) would mean they can't book together, so, what would happen? Would a waitlist start after the first booking period, and if so, would the waitlisted passengers have priority over passengers attempting to book at the 2nd booking period? If no waitlist, then a group of 4 attempting to book the 2 or 3 tickets available (depending on how many staggered booking periods) would get the 'not available' message and wouldn't be able to book. more
90, 60, 30 or 47, it doesn't matter, far too many berths are held for Tatkal and HO (emergency) quota, I've just done a long proposal to try to get the number of lower berths allocated to Sr. Citizens quadrupled (I posted it here yesterday), I used a 2-tier air con carriage as an example, and later provided 5 real examples of trains with just a single 2-tier air con carriage, and a single general quota (no Remote location or Pooled quota), in all examples the number of Tatkal & HO quota berths was almost equal to the total general quota. That's the problem, and staggered booking wont change that. How do you stagger booking for a train with one 2-tier air con carriage and only 20 berths on the general quota? (eg. Train 10215 or 16630 or 12457) What about remote location stations with only 2 or 4 berths allocated to a class? (eg. 14864 or 14854, both Agra Fort to Varanasi in 2A, or 12314 Mughal Sarai to Sealdah in 2A) How do you stagger bookings for First class air con? most 1A berths are still in 1A/2A combination carriages with only 10 berths, and mostly 4 of those berths are held for the HO quota. How do you stagger booking the lower berth quota? only 2 LBQ berths in 2A and 3A, and very many trains have only 1 x 2A carriage or sometimes only 1 x 3A carriage. I do agree the 120 day ARP is wrong and needs to be reduced by at least half, but staggered booking just wouldn't work. more
Permium Taatkaal rates are exorbitantly high. Railways should review more
The first come first serve basis concept in what is prevalent as of now. My suggestion is that should change....to what I have suggested in my comment. This will allow everybody a chance to book a berth. If one go to book a berth on the 40 th day, he finds it is WL, which does not get confirm that puts immense pressure on Tatkal quota which hets exhausted with in minutes of opening. Comforts & Convenience of travel is the key focus areas. more
