Railways mein loot hai

The fare for Shatabdi Express has gone from ₹575 to ₹825 from Chandigarh to New Delhi. The complimentary water bottle has gone from 1 ltr to 500 ml. That’s the nationalistic growth in railways. Railways has failed on most parameters in last 4-5 years. more

At times, especially when you book in advance the train fares on Tejas Express from Mumbai to Delhi is higher than the cheapest air fares!!! No bedding materials at times. Govt is looting the public more
Lesser water though, is okay, especially when complimentary, as that prevents wastage. Rich can afford buying more on payment. Moreover, see the quantum of plastic generated, which remains an environmental hazard. Regarding fares, railways remains the cheapest transportation means between 2 cities, also the most environmentally friendly. So what gives! more
Plastic will be generated even in smaller size plastic bottles. So a single bigger size bottle might be a better idea than 2 or 3 smaller size ones. In any case plastic bottles should be banned altogether, if it is a matter of environment. As regards wastage of water, railways should offer an additional 500ml of water bottle within the same cost, once the passenger finishes the first one OR after a definite number of stations. So passengers alighting in between might not need the additional bottle and the second bottle would be only for those who will be travelling till the destination. Also the second bottle can be given at the time of dinner being served as those passengers are likely to complete the journey at the destination.

Railways is certainly the cheapest mode of transportation but only in non-premium trains. In premium trains like Rajdhani and Shatabdi, it is no longer the case. Rajdhani has stopped offering soups before dinner and they have also done away with the option of continental food which used to be the case a few years ago. The menu is still the same for lunch, dinner and breakfast after so many decades. All this at a time when dynamic pricing has been introduced in booking of Rajdhani tickets and people end up spending huge amounts especially ahead of festivals / special occasions. more
Railway is backbone of economy . Railway fares will directly add to the higher cost of everything. We have corporate government rather than welfare government. It should change. more
At present there is no area where public is not paying extra than they enjoying facilities. We Indians are born to pay taxes every where to fed our rulers no matter, they were Muslims(1000-1400AD), British( 1700- 1947) and now to democratic government. more
Railway is looter ever since it was born! They are only curtailing the facilities and increasing the fares! There is NO R&D in Railways how to minimize the costs , but they only search the people`s pocket. There should be mass protest . more
