Railways needs a rethink on dynamic pricing
The key reason I am writing this is because I think the messages here reach the Ministers and top decision makers. Railway is mulling dynamic pricing seems like where all express and mail trains will have changing fares like airlines. This will be a wrong move after 120 day ticket booking window, doubling cancellation charges and increase in upper class fares.
Please understand given oil prices, you will loose passengers to air fares and once passenger is gone to air category, its hard to get them back to be a regular railway traveller.
For short terms profits, Railway shouldnt do long term damage. I understand the need to increase profits but the biggest area that railways is not focusing on is cost reduction. Cut leakages and extra people, lower cost. Do decentralisation with centralized systems. more

I support Dynamic price system as it eliminates middle men looting big money from needy persons and railways are at loss. Also it ensure availability of ticket to needy persons. We cannot run 2-3 km long train to accommodate everybody. Ideally speaking local MLA & MP should help poor persons in this case from their welfare fund more

Railway is now working as a profit making organisation. In the year of 2000, sleeper class reservation cancellation charge was Rs.20/- on account of clarkage charge. Now the same cancellation charge become Rs.120/-. Can Railway justify the clarkage charge of Rs.120/-? At the time of preparation of reservation chart, a huge number of passengers are found wait listed. So cancellation of tickets are noway loss of railway. Then why this increase of cancellation charge? Introduction of 120 days advance reservation system is another way to increase profitability. It will helps the broker to acquire berth more in advance and general people will suffer. Only Increasing of charges will not survive the railway until the operating cost can control. Railway should find out the area where the losses are generating. more

Railway is not a private company, Its a national transport for the people of India. By this way railway is not attracting the traveler. In-fact traveler is rescheduling their plan and avoiding paying hefty charges. For AC classes Fares matches with Air fare wherein these train facilities,time ,cleanliness all are RAMBHAROSE. more

The dynamic fare is nothing but a way of collection by coercion. They see air fares only as an example. Do they provide all the facilities that are available in Airports like trollies, check in bagage (delivery at destination in tact) etc. Please do not innovate for taxing common man. Innovate to provide service. more
