Re-structuring Railways

Government has no business to be in business. Indian Railways should be run like any other Corporate, efficiency and market driven. Over the years successive Railway ministers have flooded the system with their own people often incompetent at different levels. To begin with a PPP (Public Private Participation) model should be put in place. more

Dear Mr. Ravi, how many times do we have revolted as a customer if our rights are demolished. If the roads are bad refuse paying toll taxes, stop and take time to write a complaint. We also need to be more responsible as customers and citizens. Now for PPP models, its right fashion right now and delivers if designed and customized for the specific business and implemented in right earnest. more
Dear Wng. Cmmdr, Nothing is tall order if there is a precise and strong will to deliver. It only requires paradigm shift in our mind sets. more
I take your point, Mr. Ravi Shankar. Alternatively we need to find a method to change the Org. culture of our Public sector, which is a tall order! more
It has indeed become fashionable to introduce PPP in sectors such as roads, while we pay road tax on the vehicles we purchase but have poor roads and to have a good highway we have PPP and get charged and on top of it we have fuel surcharge. Similar is the case with airports where we have User Charges. I really do not understand why we should pay user charges as a passenger. it is between airline and the airport operator. Whey should they put up fancy airports when it does not become break even. Similar case will happen with Railways if PPP is introduced more
We should understand that Railways is part of infrastructure and as such is an input to work or input to economy. It enables economy to grow. In this case if we introduce PPP, then the costs will go up. Railways should not be run as business but as a service which enables economy to grow. Only government can do this and private sector cannot do that. more
