Every major railway station has announcement system. It is used only for announcing arrival and departure of trains and it is kept idle otherwise.
Make use of this system for requesting passengers to avoid food wastage , keep the compartments and toilets clean, avoid keeping luggage on the benches and chairs in the platforms etc. more

Good suggestion. Present announcement systems are partially pre-recorded and often make mistakes. It is painful to see passengers running around in utter confusion. Last week u travelled in SL class in Trivandrum Mail. There is no provision to collect wastes and the practice of throwing through windows continues. Will a system and mesh window help ? more

Public in India never bother to listen any announcement of railway or from anywhere which is in common and they do whatever they want infact for such people separate police is required to kik on their ass then only some stupid or bad habits people understand. I recommend with use of police also with the announcement to make sure people adhere to the announcement and follow by their wish in normal otherwise police should be allowed to use its power to make sure people follow if required by force also.otherwise announcement can not alone do the real purpose. more

If the food is kept idle it is wasted. So, if the food goes waste , it is loss to the railways anyways. So, if there is any leftover food , sell it to passengers in the platform waiting for train or donate to the orphanages or old age home. Atleast, they will benefit plus also it is charity. more
