The grievance against service sector depends upon how well or how bad you felt about an incident. I am no exception to this. The BEML and HAL postings were just another way of showing disenchantment. It's almost a decade i came to Bangalore and to be honest i felt at home because of the weather and more than that the mild mannered people i came across. Over the last few years this has changed. I don't know i am not feeling good about too much of influx and instead of giving this city a truly cosmopolitan look it has given rise to a very typical "i am better than you" attitude in every sphere of life. Coming back to the service sector i have so far complained 4 times in all. thrice against the railways and once against an airavat conductor. Out of three complaints I know for sure that salary of AC2 TTE was held up for one month. I requested him to check the AC vents of the train at the next scheduled stop (to cross check the smell of burnt wire) but neither he took it seriously nor did he stop to cross check. Escaping from these double Fibre glass window rakes is impossible. The next was the trip from Ooty to Kempegawda terminal. The ksrtc was prompt and suspended the airavat conductor for picking unknown passengers in the dead of night and not providing water bottle on our way back. He was suspended for a week till depot coordinator called up to ask whether i am willing to let go of the complaint which i did promptly thinking the conductor has learnt his lesson. So may be the severity of anguish depends upon whether we feel satisfied with the action or expect more out of situation. The other two incidents involved the catering service in Howrah Duronto AC2 as dirty linen were provided and no water in washroom after Bhubaneswar stop. I got a mail from IRCTC customer care that they will look into it seriously. Whether its RPF or GRP, yes both are equally corrupted but things are looking up and now response time is less and action is taken promptly. more
The whole idea of raising the cancelation fee is to kill the margin of agents who block tickets. But yes senior citizens should be allowed some more concessions. I think the lower seat quota has gone up for seniors as well. In a way it's good but for others it's kind of catch 22 situation. If you say yes you're humane and good etc but on the other for families traveling with little children a window seat is something very much welcome relief, if not then well.. more
when the train is cancelled by the railways due to various factors, why the full amount including the service tax is not refunded by the railways........... more
Cancellation charges are too high now for travels by senior citizens to book tickets early.Less eagerness to buy now tickets for the burden of sudden illness as for the aged persons. more
I am traveling in train right now and feel sad that the catering staff has to carry all the food on their own. Can't railway provide them the trawler just like the way in aeroplanes which will make their job better and more efficient. The trawler is used effectively through out the world. We should also start using them in trains. Gaurav Tiwari more
