RPF Corruption with Hawkers to permit encroachment

Yesterday on TV there was a report showing how RPF takes bribes from hawkers to let them encroach on bridges in Mumbai and the same happens at stations in many cities.

Some time back the Railways had compiled our inputs below on what should be done. What has the old and the new railways minister done about it??

RPF Corruption - Solutions

1. The authority of RPF personnel on the stations should be curtailed
2. The amenities provided to RPF jawans on the stations should be improved
3. They should undergo regular trainings on customer service, surveillance techniques and physical fitness
4. A strict list of do’s and don’ts on the stations should be issued to the RPF jawans from the senior brass
5. The responsibilities and areas that come under the RPF should be displayed at different places at the station
6. Colour of the RPF uniforms should be different from that of the state police so that commuters do not mistake them for policemen and succumb under pressure
7. Proper structure should be designed to monitor the working of RPF jawans on the stations
8. Corruption related complaints against the RPF should be taken up very seriously
9. A phone number should be dedicated towards receiving bribery complaints and should be displayed at different areas on the station
10. RPF pay scale should be improved
11. An e-mail id should be displayed at the Railway Stations with the instructions that complainant should send details of his complaint/action taken/not taken after a certain period of time
12. Severe action should be taken against RPF personnel caught taking bribes
13. The duties should be assigned to them on a rotational basis
14. Regular follow-ups should be done to understand and fine tune the RPF performance based on passenger feedback. more

Corruption is our National Heritage and tradition too. There is No Piecemeal Solution for it. Exemplary punishment with Rock like Motivation of the Political parties without hypocrisy can yield some result. Else all Cries are around the Bushes more
if every detected bribery get that person fired, very soon it will all stop. Plenty of young idealistic people with all kind of degrees and diplomas will be happy with that vacancy and take their job more
I understand from a Times of India Chennai report today that the RPF powers are severely restricted compared to the Local Police. They could not take any meaningful action on a local men's college students frightening passengers on a suburban train wielding swords, dragging the points on the platform and firing crackers and indulging in riotous acts.
Moreover I have never seen Warning Display on any Railway Station either in Mumbai or in Chennai that Hawkers or Beggars are prohibited and liable for arrest.
Surely such warnings by the Govt./Railway authorities are
a must especially in the wake of increased terrorism.

Ms Jain Actually RPF is not real culprit. It is a caucus induldeged in such unscruplous activities not only in raiway but on National Highway and civic authorites of urban bodies headed by local politician more
RPF is the most worst force among other forces in India. This is because the don't dealing with local people. If passengers is seeking of help during journey! they always try to avoid passengers and only thing is what i realised! They are mostly of bribe from hawkers, without ticket passengers, illlegal venders etc. Passengers did not expect any kind of help from them! more
