Rural Covid wave going undetected

Even as the second wave declines, my husband’s patients from rural areas UP and few from Haryana have a different story to tell — one of masses of people with fever, some dying, all without testing. Terribly worried that there is a COVID surge in rural India that is going largely unchecked & undetected as most television and print media is focused on declines in cities.

Can LocalCircles take this up please more

Rural India continued to be in pathetic condition in every walk of life since independence and there had not been much changes during last 75 years in sufferings of our rural people representing more than 70% of our populace. There had been many roads, Primay health centres, schools, electrifications etc. during this period but either majority of these facilities are either in a mess or are defunct. Electric polls are there but no one knows when there is a supply of electricity. Schools are established but neither competent teachers are posted nor standard education is provided. Health centre premises are visible at many villages without a doctor and other primary requirements. Under such a situation, it would be of too much to expect that the rural people will get the covid related facilities! Since covid test facility is absent in rural India, we feel proud of claiming that the spread of the virus in rural india is much less in comparison to urban and semi-urban india which is far from the truth. In fact none of us is aware of the actuaries, which must be horrible and beyond our imagination. It is high time that the government must pay its pointed attention towards this issue. more
Yes, you are correct. But most important is self descipline, stay home, distance maintaining and using of mask. more
It is a fact that A MBBS will not prefer to settle in the small Town or a Village. Earlier there was a proposal to Start Diploma like Course in Allopathic Medicine and such Diploma holders will be more then Happy to settle in Villages. This could have created better Medical Facilities in Villages and improved the Medical standard of Villages. more
Fully agree with CSN Sharma. If only these CMs and their secretaries go through these columns they will get a fair idea as to how to tackle this manace. The people commenting in these columns are far more intelligent than these so called CMs who become CMs only based on their caste, creed, religion, reservations etc without even the minimum educational qualifications more

Mr. Rana, you are right by saying that people in the villages hardly follow protocol but people in Pune city also do not follow protocol. That is why Pune has the highest number of active cases in Maharashtra and the police are hardly doing anything about it. How many times have I reprimanded people for not wearing masks but they are stubborn and will not wear the same. So we require absolute strictness to maintain public health. Let people not say that they were beaten with sticks if they do not wear the mask, there needs to be strictness and I agree with Sandhya who says we have to be careful about biological warfare. This is it, the Indian variant. Where did it come from, who brought it into the country and from which country. Asia is reeling under the covid attack now. May God look after our country. more
