Manufacturing and utilisation of single use plastic bags were banned several years back. Couple of years these were manufactured and utilised covertly to a very limited extent. Now again the era of plastic bags has come back and these are in use in open in markets. Similar was the case of plastic plates, glasses etc. but their manufacturing and use were never stopped. Same fate is likely to happen in this case as well. Until & unless, we, the common man become concerned of our own health and refuse/avoid use of these harmful substances but leave everything on our government to do won't help excepting making laws and ordinances. Compliance of laws is our responsibility. more
Such laws have been passed several times earlier also, but after a not very long time one is back to square one. The last time a wave like this was airborne the cut was made noticeably on plastic straws. What percentage did one save? The Redhiwallas, the consumer products shops, the laundries, the tailors and many others have resumed use of plastic bags. Solution: 1. Close the pilot tap, so no water flows. In other words, ban production (but then who takes the responsibility of closing down such a huge industry in any country?). The Redhiwallas (who generally do not have back-up sources of income) may lose revenue and perhaps also livelihood. 1.1. Plan alternative options for such people. 2. Fine (painfully hefty) all sales establishments which use the banned products. Don't spare them for fear of losing votes. 3. Intensify public awareness of the "harms/dangers" to human life and to environment. Like it was done in fighting the coronavirus. more
These bans are only on paper. The manufacturers continue to manufacture them, the shops sell them and the people use them. Until and unless the people impose a self ban and stop using these single use plastics nothing is going to change more
At least people should take this seriously and follow it for the sake of a better world tomorrow. Implementation by Government Agencies need to be thorough possibly with an instant fine. Above all people should exercise their good sense, become aware and also spread the awareness. more
Bell the cat as soon as possible. The menace of plastic can be seen all around and affecting the lives of innocent animals. We should resort to the cotton bags as were prevailing before the induction of poisonous plastic bags. more
