Standardization of Gyms and Swimming Pools

Can LocalCircles demand from the Government that standards be created for swimming pools and gymnasiums.

Right now its a free for all when it comes to swimming pools and gym facilities. It is a safety issue. In societies and schools accidents are happening in after hours. Similarly it has been noticed that while gyms get machines of fancy kinds but they are poorly maintained. In some cases these machines are passing electric current to users.

Then gyms charge lot of money in some cases go beyond max capacity and flout safety protocols. more

The problem is not so much with standards. There are ample standards already in place which most people dont know about. The issue are: 1. Are these pools and gyms built and maintained according to available standards and do they administer these standards or not? 2. What is the review mechanism to ensure that existing standards are maintained? By the government selectively fining businesses, they only enrich government coffers. Nothing much changes on the ground. more
One cannot expect 'enforcing agencies to enforce each & every norms/ standards.... this ultimaely results in more corruption... more
Tese are items of NO IMPORTANCE more
Strict protocols should be implemented and standard checking must be done with legal action against such facilities more
There are BIS standards for Swimming Pools which not only cover the Structural aspects, O & M , Safety features but also Water Quality norms to be maintained. Please refer to IS:16508(2017) and IS:3328(1993) with amendments issued up to 2010. Furthermore you have FINA Standards for Swimming Pools as well. https://media.fluidra-engineering.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/fina-olympic-swimming-pools-eng.pdf more
