States should not adopt faulty vehicle policy

The Govt has passed the attached notification to scrap more than 10 year old diesel and more than 15 year old petrol vehicle. Despite us saying that the scrapping should not be age based but kilometre based.

Now states need to accept or reject this. If you believe it is unfair policy, write to email below and your state CM office

comments-morth@gov.in

Also include our circle survey which clearly said policy is not acceptable in current form

This kind of arrogance isnt good and I an very positive this policy will not be implemented by states more

Prima-facie fuel subsidies, especially since the rich purchasing cars are enjoying them, cause price distortions. Automobile industry demanded a tax concession, which they got, and subsidy on diesel already existed, so now when the government introduced 10 years age to scrap diesel and more than 15 year old petrol vehicle, the same people suddenly citing logic. Subsidies enjoyed, while the air got polluted. Polluter pays principle logic conveniently ignored.Government's policies fickle. Subsidies awarded first, then when people enjoy them, bring such policies! Did Govt ever consider the cleaner bio-diesel? more
Kilometers should be considered more
Not only Calendar years, Kilometers Run by a Vehicles must also be given due Weightage. We are Senior Citizens, we hardly use our Vehicles, but these are basic necessities as we can not use, Rail, or Bus etc. We have to totally depend on our own Vehicle. Thus Govt must give Special Rebate to Senior Citizens and for them Kilometers run must only be the Criteria. more
One of the things we tend to forget is that consumption of fuel and pollution significantly rise with bad traffic conditions. Many of our metros have monumental traffic problems. I have observed that fuel consumption nearly doubles under these conditions. If we can make our traffic flow freely within our cities, the pollution can significantly reduce. more
Totally agree with you. Kilometres run by the vehicle must be given weightage too. Obviously the automobile companies are benefiting, when earlier they along with the consumers benefited from diesel subsidy which incentivised people to purchase private cars running on diesel. Nothing in the world comes for free. Pollution first, and then when purchasers have gotten used to the cheap fuel, comes the 10 year rule. Just as well, since the rich benefited from subsidies, while causing pollution. more
