Stinks in Trains and Stations

We recently traveled via Nizamuddin to Hyderabad. When one travels by railways, they get to smell a lot of stink, both at station and in train.

We talk about everything but not about all these bad smells we keel inhaling. Wonder how they keep harming us.

Can we all list all the various sources of stink at stations and in trains.

Station Stinks:
Shit on tracks
Vomit on platform
Spit Gutka in dustbins
Urine near toilets/waiting rooms

Train Stinks:
Urine and Shit around toilet area
Stale food stinks
Garbage stinks more

It can't be denied that there have been noticeable improvements in the railway stations and trains as well as in the tracks passing through the stations as far as cleanliness is concerned since the present government took over the reign of the nation. But it would be too much to expect the government to deploy volunteers on 1:1 basis on stations and in trains to guard against illicit acts of the passengers making the stations and the trains dirty. Unless & until we make ourselves civilised being citizens of a nation known for its decades old civilisation and rich culture of humane values and realise our duties and responsibilities towards the nation and its people, learn to leave in clean and hygienic atmosphere and prepare to keep our surroundings clean ourselves lessening our dependence on the government and its agencies, many of the issues would be automatically solved. There is no point neither it is justified to accuse the railway authorities for our own uncivilised acts. more
Not agree. Corruption is at its height. I not traveled in Garibrath because it was too late. I filled TDR and refund is denied as TTE reported passenger traveled in the train this happens twice with me. The whole system is corrupted. All communication by email still vain. I am sorry to have INDIAN RAIL as citizen of India. more
Railway has improved in past 3 years-platforms and bio toilet, still long way to go. When I compare with private Buses railway is far better. Recently I could not get confirm train ticket so paid double the railway fare for ac bus and experience was painful- poor suspension, delay of 1 hour, waiting for an hour on cross road, dirty seats. I am ready to pay double fare but prefer train. more
It is not just the fault of the railways. Notices are displayed in all trains requesting passengers not to use the toilet while the train is at the station but if the passengers goes to the toilet what is the Railway to do about that? Regarding using the toilet immediately after getting into the train, one must also see the circumstances. In big cities passengers need to go leave their residence/hotel long before the departure time. THen they have to wait on the platform, where there are no toilets. It is not possible especially for senior citizens to take a long walk from the platform to the toilets therefore as soon as they board the train they go. more
While entering station passengers to be told to first go to toilet etc. I see at starting station. They board the drain ,Settle in seat and go toilet even when train is at standstill at platform. Should not be allowed train toilet while standing at Platform. more
