Can we please get the data bill approved? People are suffering more

If the data has been breached,It is indeed a matter of very serious concern. Earlier data from Indian Medical Council was breached.Apparently it was the COVIN data data that was breached. It contained bio-metrics also. This problem is fast reaching epic proportions. The government must take immediate action. more
Amazing and they all want your aadhaar. That too u must whatsapp to their personal numbers more
Wow just freaking woe more
Government is not the solution for everything. Tata group is a very large and responsible organization and they will take measures. They know they have a lot to loose if they do not. more
Data breach is a security violation and only the organisation in question can answer that. A group like the Tatas are generally expected to meet international standards in that regard. We dont really know whether this is a rumour or something real about IHCL. Either way, prevention of data breach and violation is not 100% assured in any information technology system. Only safegurads can be built-in, but hackers can get smarter. The Data Security provisions from the government is always expected to lag behind and will never give real meaning or teeth to data security. How much do legislators understand data security and do they even discuss it or take it seriously? Our country is one where data breach and data abuse is virtually unchecked as of date. Any Ram, Shyam, Bajaj or sundry person on the street (Couriers/banks/delivery executives and so on) asks and gets copies of Aadhaar, PAN etc without any difficulty from anyone in this country. People who don't need such data for any of their work also have access to lot of such data. So is the Digital Personal Data Protection Act going to be a panacea for data breach? I personally dont think so. Organisations have to ensure data integrity. Institutions should stop selling databases for profit. Law enforcement should tighten its grip on people who source/channelise digital databases. All this can only reduce the menace, but not stop it. Despite all this, at the end of the day, we can do very little about data which is already floating around in cyberspace, literally on the cloud. more
