The K shaped recovery of India

The LocalCircles festival spending survey 2022 is quite enlightening.

https://www.localcircles.com/a/press/page/india-consumer-spending-survey-2022

It shows that 33 odd percent families will spend over 10,000 this festival season while 35% families of our country wont spend anything this Sep/October

This indicates that while some dont celebrate Dussehra Diwali but given that its major shopping/sale season they still wont spend.

It is likely that pressures of petrol diesel price, food price and price of medicines/healthcare and every thing has squeezed the household budgets.

Government should understand the issues and then try to resolve this situation. more

K shaped recovery mimics our economy, where there are widening inequalities. How does this bode for a nation that has overtaken UK economy as the world's 5th largest? Disparity at this scale in incomes leads to human exploitation. Silently the rich owning big cars benefit from subsidised diesel, used as the fuel in their vehicles, while being so vocal on the internet about the government giving welfare subsidy to the poor! Technology too benefits accrue mostly to the rich. Figuratively speaking, Prosperous islands made for themselves by the moneyed, exist within oceans of distress. Dussehra Diwali festivals may bring some cheer among the poor. more
People are resilient. They balance life, meaning they will send according to the means available. INR 10K is not a benchmark. Why are we even discussing about the result of a senseless frivolous survey. We don't need any conclusions. Let people celebrate however they want. Go people. more
For correct comparison and arriving at any conlusion, the ages and incomes of the respondents should also be known. more
