Tobacco and FMCG simultaneous sale ban

I am pleased to share that Maharashtra has become the first state to implement the ban on sale of tobacco and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) under one roof. Many children go to buy chips/cola/gum and eventually end up buying ciggerates.

I remember this was discussed in our circle and I think even some polls were conducted on it.

Members of local circles should go to their District Magistrates and write to their Chief Ministers to implement same ban in their states.

After all its for our next generations... more

There are lot of laws and bans, but question is where is the implementation? 1) People are still cooking on footpath and selling it 2) People are still smoking in public places and even police officer present at the location, he won't take any action 3) People park their vehicle on footpath and there is no action 4) People illegally occupy footpath and no action. In fact corporation is ready to pay compensation (using legal tax payers money) to these illegal vendors And we are talking about Smart City!!! How this will happen? Same staff will be working and if they are not taking action at this moment then why they will take action once it is smart city? Even if I lodge the complaint they have lot of excuses for not taking action. more
Pity is that even school going children get to tobacco chewing. more

Good action by Maharashtra Govt. more
Good suggestion, but the government should come forward. more
I don't think the 'ban of sale of tobacco' is sufficient. There should be a legislation that consumption of tobacco in any form (whether smoking or chewing - alone or a constituent - as in betel leaves) in public places should be totally banned, and punishable offence. more
Smoking in public places is already banned but not implemented by police. more
