Train status update
This morning I went to Secunderabad station to pick up a family member. The scheduled arrival of Godavari express was 5:45 AM. When I checked the status online, it showed the arrival time as 5:50. Hence I reached the station by 5:40.
When I was about to enter though, the display for arrivals showed the time as 6:15AM. With no option, I just went to the waiting room and also walked around the platform.
As I kept checking the status, every few minutes it would get updated online and the time was moved from 6:15 to 6:23, to 6:42 and so on. Interestingly enough after 6:30 when I checked it showed the status as "arrived at Secunderabad at 6:28", which was incorrect. I was at the station and even the platform was not fixed for the train.
Finally it arrived after 7AM and even then the platform announcement was made only about 5 minutes prior to that. Had to rush from 1 to 7.
Request someone to look into this and check why the status changes so frequently. Interestingly it showed the train was delayed by more than 1 hour at the previous stop which was about 2 hours prior to that.
Hope the concerned authorities can address this issue. Having to wake up early and then wait for 1 1/2 hours at the station without knowing when the train would arrive, was not a pleasant experience. more

wrong announcements, announcement of arrival or departure of a train etc. are a common feature of railways. For traveling passengers i.e. senior citizen, pregnant ladies, disabled, sick patients are put into serious mental torture by announcing in the eleventh hour, with out providing coach position details or display in platforms. more

You are correct.The working of railways is to improve drastically in case of safety,timings, number of trains increase, increasing lines beside cleanliness in bogies, platforms,canteens,speeding of trains etc etc etc. After all these satisfactorily done, they can think of BULLET TRAINS. First they can to trains like Train 18 in all routes.Without basic needs there is no point in going for it. Rlys should review the priorities and make commuters happy. They should come out of monopoly and should think of PPP mode where private investments can be got like in Airways, Roads etc. After PPP mode only, air travel and condition of roads improved considerably. more

DEAR SURESH ADINA: RAILWAYS WILL TAKE YOU FOR A RIDE - IT IS WELL KNOWN. THEY HAVE BUREAUCRATIC PROBLEMS AND THEY WILL MANIPULATE THE ARRIVAL DEPARTURE TIMES TO REFLECT THEIR 'ON TIME' STATUS. I WONDER WHY YOU SID NOT SIMPLY PHONE UP YOUR FAMILY MEMBER AND ASK HIM/HER, WHICH STATION THEIR TRAIN CROSSES LAST AND AT WHAT TIME.?. YOU COULD HAVE EASILY ESTIMATED THE TRAIN'S CORRECT ARRIVAL TIME AT SECUNDERABAD AFTER THAT INFO.( this is what I do when some family member of kine arrives from anywhere at Chennai Central.!. ) more

Ministry of Rly must look in to it. We are finding much difference between online status & actual status. There are so many online sites for live running status and different timing is seen in different sites. more
