Travelling in Reserved Coaches without Reservation - Inputs
Many of you have sent us emails/posts/comments on this subject highlighting that many times you are in a situation where someone without a reservation comes and seats themselves on a birth belonging to you/someone else and do not vacate it till it is night/sleep time. While it is acceptable to some, for many other passengers it cause inconvenience.
We understand that this issue is common and would like to seek inputs from the community for solutions that could address this.

The problem of passengers traveling without reservation and occupying berths of reserved passengers is common. The situation for short distance passengers who commute between their home station and travel to work without reserved berths is also a big nuisance. The railways should provide suitable accommodation to such passengers or reserve coaches for such passengers without inconveniencing the reserved passengers. 2. The railways should take strict action for removing beggars and other people who make the platforms their shelters. This is not only necessary for the security of passengers but also will eliminate nefarious activities - drug abuse, drinking, sanitation. 3. The menace of stray dogs on the platforms has also to be addressed. These stray animals not only pose a threat to the passengers but are also a health hazard. more

I think here comes the role of TTE & also the coach attendant. Coach attendant must keep an eye on such passengers & must infor TTE for furtehr action. more
