Unemployment for graduates at 29.1%
As a country we may miss the demographic dividend bus as we can't find employment for the young. Please note the following:
Unemployment for 19-29 with a graduate degree, at 29.1%
& Labour Force Participation for them is just 53.7% compared to 62.4% among older people.
Can we have a serious discussion on what should be done in mission mode to create employment for the young. Lets think outside the box. more

Many factors govern the unemployment phenomenon.Unbridled increasing population is a major factor.Rate of increase in population is far more than the rate of employment generation.Employment generation has its own limitations.Failure of successive governments in previous decades to curb the population increase has precipitated the problem.Skill development in various streams apart from formal education can help in a big way.Youth will have to be convinced to think beyond white collar jobs.Dairy sector has to be strengthened. It will help in two ways.Apart from employement generation it would also take care of demand for dairy products.Many others sectors can be exploited on the similar lines. The source of your data is unclear. There could be huge regional differences within the country with States like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and others being better placed than UP or Bihar. Unemployment cannot be brought down by opening colleges or developing skills alone. The country has a bad fiscal system that discourages entrepreneurship. Moreover, the bureaucracy ensures that local businesses have to bribe left and right to merely survive. When you throttle small businesses who are by far the major employers of youth you get very dismal employment results. Also, the country suffers due to enrichment of the formal salaried sector while all the others are left in poverty. The low employment rate is a symptom. The rot runs deep and needs some serious surgeries and amputations to cure. more

I am always surprised at post saying unemployment. I am in need of marketing persons but nobody wants to go out and sell. Every one wants a comfy office job and that too, at a salary of their liking. There are many so called unemployed persons who want only govt. job. They are not willing to do private job. And then they call themselves unemployed. Govt. of India has excellent schemes where any young person can pick-up skill at Skill Development centers in almost every district headquarters. Lodging and Boarding are provided free of cost. Course done is also free of cost. What more one can do? Govt. has many schemes but when some one does not want to work, and then call themselves unemployed, it is most unfortunate thing. I meet many business persons. One thing common is, we are not getting manpower. Right manpower. This is the main complaint of almost every business person. No one can now complain that they do not have resources to get necessary skills. Govt. schemes are enough. Only problem is, they do not want to leave their home and explore India. more

Sensible response.
To put it bluntly, I bet some of the so-called Unemployed are lazy, and want handouts from the government. I am sure there are truly unemployed graduates, and we must somehow remove the chaff from the grain to get a more accurate statistics.
This is a complex topics. For example, are universities churning out graduates that are ill-equipped educationally? Are there enough jobs available to offer jobs to these graduates? Has there been a significant shift in the job market demand? And on and on...

The Govt claims to have brought down the unemployment issue at pre-covid level but your version is different. Would like to know the correct position before I make any comment. more
