Unemployment of fresh graduates

Unemployment problem is very real, even among elite institutions. Around 8000 IIT students could not get any placement this year. Out of 21,500 students registered with all IITs, 8090 students, a whopping 38%, could not get any placement.

There is no point in simply building elite institutions. Need to bring lot of high end jobs to India. Both centre and states need to work on it. Raghuram Rajan was mocked for saying this.

If this is the situation of IITs, less said is better about other educational institutions.

LC manager does excellent surveys they must take up unemployment in greater detail and the Govt should act faster then they do. more

As India's Population is increasing contineously, more and more doctors will be needed. Whereas we are not establishing new Factories, hence Engineer's requirement will not increase. more
What a joke. Person writing this news item is totally ignorant and does not even try to find out reason for it. All IITs have fixed criterion for companies coming for campus recruitment. So, many companies who want to recruit IITians do not qualify for campus recruitment process of IITs. Also, there are many who demand unreasonable / much more than offered salaries and then chose to go without placement thinking they will get a better job directly. Then there are many who do not even attempt to go for campus recruitment for simple reason of higher studies / wanting to have own start-up. All 8000 students who did not get employment, almost all would be in either of these categories. One must apply your own logic as well before blindly following media reports. Media reports are always biased. In this case, it was true but presentation was such that all reasons mentioned above were not highlighted deliberately to show present govt. in bad light. In fact, there is no unemployment at all. I am a business person and not getting people for openings. They just do not want to work. more
True, also think about the situation of the state where IIT KGP, the oldest one is situated. No one from IIT can get a decent job in this state. There is very high regional disparity right now in terms of job creation as land, water, mines, birth records are all in the hands of the state governments. Some states have become only labour suppliers...not job creators. What the centre will do with this situation?? I wonder.....may be LC manager could ask for suggestions from all concerned. more
We go on being the top country population wise and then go on seeking employment for all those born. Isn't this a self created circle? JRD Tata had long ago talked about population co9ntrolm about 6 decades ago. He could imagine the bleak future of the kids since no country can ever produce that number of jobs which are at par with its population growth chart. 65% of our population is below age 35 coupled with the constant fight between the Govt, the opposition and the judiciary in matters of national development. We are a myopic race it seems. more
No population control is not the answer for this problem. This topic has been talked about before. We have to change the thinking and need to bring private sector jobs of all level to have employment to these young. We need people but not IIT people. Every young does not need an IIT degree. Our job market has areas in the trade level that need people to work. That is what we need to look at. more
Where is unemployment?. It is only political word. Industries and institutions are not getting persons for work. If there is an unemployment why vacancies columns of papers are full. It is actually unwillingness to work nothing else. more
Sir Employment should be for full population of the country ? RG NOIDA  On Thursday 5 September, 2024 at 12:41:13 pm IST, SN Mittal wrote: more
