Unsafe Lifts and their F grade maintenance

Attached is a rather difficult video of how a student died in Kota in a lift due to poor maintenance. On a regular basis children and senior citizens and adults keep getting stuck in lifts because as a country we do not have life maintenance standards.

Lifts are installed, inspector gives certificate (generally takes bribe) and shows up next year for more. People can either take amc from company (super expensive) or maintain themselves. Most after first few years maintain themselves. Company engineers are poor mostly despite paying.

We need to bring a mandatory common lift act across India and a national lifts body that keeps track of every lifts’s maintenance and safety or marks it defunct. Almost like passport authority.

This will save lives. It may be more tedious compliance but if have a lift maintain properly or just dont have it. Climb your floors. more

Company should mandatorily sell lift with 5 years AMC inclusive. more
The local Circles Manager needs to bar Maharshi Mehta(465) and George Jacob from any further posting. I am not aware of Rajasthan Lift Rules. But many violations are apparent (from the brief video clipping)according to various provisions of the Bombay/Maharashtra Lift Rules. more
Yes very much true .Maintenance is lacking with so many high rise buildings coming .It would be good if the inspector who certifies should be penalised and in the certificate given it should be clearly mentioned that for how years it is valid .It would be better if the lift manufacturers itself does the AMC at a reasonable rate then it will be good. more
