Voice voting in parliament must stop

The data protection bill just got passed in lok sabha. Despite all the shortcomings and gaps and exemption granted to govt entities the bill got through because voice voting antiquated method was used. Now it will go to Rajya Sabha and likely again voice voting will happen.

Voice voting is so unscientific and the speaker can sway the vote howsoever they want.

Can we come together and demand that all voting on bills must happen through a EVM.

Surprised why opposition doesn’t demand this. more

Such practice is in diverse purposes in this regime. Power game became an important tool to misuse. It was never been so in earlier govts. whoever was in power. the leader made himself a self made king and we all are responsible to some extent for all such wrong doings in last one decade. Opposition was also not so much serious initially to make an over ride now situation compelled them to run. Now we have to pay the price for all such misdeeds. You are very right to raise voice on such important issue to build an awareness among common people. more
I entirely agree with Raju Bhatnagar (1305 Jacaranda Brigade Millenn...) and Padam Law. Any of the opposition member ask for a division by electronic voting and they know it. They do not ask for it because they know that result will not be any different. I do not think that circle should spend its energy and time on this topic as every opposition member knows that he has a right to ask for electronic voting. RY K. more
All are sailing on the same boat. While in power todays opposition parties also do practice the same. So they won't and can't oppose it like our reservation system, which was initially introduced only for a period of 10 years. As far as the bill in question, the ruling party have enough majority in the Parliament and could easily get through the bill even through EVM. more
EVM is not appropriate for use in Parliament. The MPs can choose to accept a voice vote or they can demand a division i.e., voting electronically using the electronic voting system that exists in Parliament. The choice can be exercised by members but the decision is taken by the Speaker more
Some people think absolute nonsensically. If MPs want they can opt for other modes of voting. Voice Voting can be changed. Do not people know this? more
