Welcoming new Railways Minister

Dear Friends:

With the recent changes in the cabinet and portfolios, Suresh Prabhu has been named as the new Minister for Railways.

Mr Prabhu, a qualified Chartered Accountant, returns to the Union Cabinet after having served in the government of Atal Behari Vajpayee.

During Prime Minister Vajpayee's tenure from 1998 to 2004, Mr Prabhu served as Industry Minister, Minister of Environment and Forests, Minister of Fertilizers & Chemicals, Power, and Heavy Industry and Public Enterprises.

His stint as Power Minister won him praise for efficient administration of a key government department.

We look forward to sharing the whitepapers developed by our circle and working with him on Making Railways Better!

Thanks for your participation so far!

TRAIN SEVA IS FOR NEEDY PEOPLE, POOR PEOPLE CAN NOT BYE PRIVILEGE TICKETS, RAIL IS NOT FOR RICH PEOPLE, THIS IS FOR NEEDY PERSONS, IT SHOULD NOT BE COMMERCIALIZE ON THE COST OF AVERAGE/POOR AND NEEDY PEOPLE. more
If the Railways are really interested in making the travel in Indian Rails pleasant and memorable in long distance trains, they must follow the following suggestions : 1. Each and every reserved bogie (whether Sleeper Class, Chair Car, AC Chair Car, Ex. AC Chair Car, AC 3 Tier-2 Tier & 1st Class) must have an individual TTE cum Attendant to look after the comfort/amenities/safety of the passengers and drive out unwanted people from the bogie. It was a practice long ago followed by Railways but discontinued by the greedy politicians acting as Railway Ministers to show profit and earn vote bank !!! 2. No person should be allowed to board or travel in any kind of reserved coach without a valid reserved ticket. Persons with daily tickets or monthly tickets or with railway pass or with general ticket must not be allowed to board & travel in any reserved coach of any class. If only these suggestions can be adopted, I think the Rail Travel in long distance trains would be most pleasant and safe one and passengers would not mind paying 10-20 or 50 rupees extra for providing these facilities. I hope, all the readers who are active in this circle will admit it. Please admit and support it openly more
Catering section of the railways should display the rates and quantity to be supplied of all food items in the railway station and in the boogie so that the vendors will not cheat the passengers. Normally they take Rs 6/- for 50 ml of tea and Rs8/- for 50 ml of coffee as against the 100 ml. Even they do not bring 100 ml cups. Hence the request more
My suggestion is transparency of activity ,charges , procedure, turn around time and education about systems is more important. more
I have already suggested to make approach road on either side of unmanned level crossing to be made of ridges where speed of vehicle will drastically come down and the driver of the vehicle, to necessarily halt and has to operate on either side a cross bar interlocked that at anytime only one will open, by this way surely accidents can be averted and human life can be saved and Railways can save millions. Please give it a try. more
